Pico and I had the most incredible stroke of luck at Over Rover Agility trial in Cato NY this weekend! We got the team Q we’ve been trying to get for almost a year!

Our team did not get off to a good start, with all of us eliminated in team standard! We had one elimination in jumpers and went straight into last place! Fortunately we had snooker and gamblers coming up, and even a lunatic like Pico can rack up points in gamblers. Snooker is another story, but sometimes we can pull it off. Thank god this was one of those times both for Pico and for her teammates Kia and River! We all had really good runs in those classes.  It was enough to pull us up to second to last place! Still we were optimistic and decided to try our best in three dog relay.

Our performance there was nothing short of miraculous! Pico’s section of the course had a live jump right after her final jump, and if she took it accidentally she would have been eliminated. I didnt have much hope of avoiding it, but to my astonishment, as Pico was committing to her final jump a big gust of wind blew it down! Pico shortened stride, hopped over the fallen bar like a bunny and didnt even look at the off course jump! What are the chances of something like THAT happening when you need it!

Kia and River did their part and ran clean and there was nothing to do but sweat it out and see how the numbers played out! In the end, we made it! We got one of the last qualifying spots!

So, Pico will be packing her bags and heading to Scottsdale AZ in the fall, to team with her sister Emmy and hopefully her mom Soja at Cynosports! And now I cant take a bit of a break and turn my attention back to Dock Dogs for a bit!  

And, thank you thank you thank you to our teammates Pam and Kia, and Dawn and River! Team can be stressful, but not with fun teammates like Dawn and Pam!
