Check out this website http://asquared.phanfare.com/ belonging to Pico’s friend Whitney Rupp. Pico competed at the Dock Dogs event in Nelsonville Ohio, and then tried lure coursing and there are pictures and videos of both activities!

Pico won the Nelsonville event on Saturday, with more super elite jumps. I believe that brings her number of lifetime super elite jumps to 20 or so. On Sunday they had the televised portion of the event and Pico came in second. The winning handler jumped in the pool with his dog,  which will look good on tv. Better him than me! Even though the temperatures were into the 90’s, no way would I consider going in that pool!

The real highlight of the trip was the lure coursing we did at Camp Dogwood on Monday! Pico and Granite loved it and I’m going to pursue this sport with both of them. If nothing else it’s a great way to practice the sprints needed to power down the dock and get great distances on our dock diving jumps.

Next on Pico’s agenda is Dock Dogs National Championships in Rogers MN. We’re already here and it is COLD!!! I’m glad I packed both of Pico’s coats and lots of towels, she will need them! Cold water has never bothered her before,  and hopefully this will prove true this weekend as well.  I do think I will limit the number of practice jumps she takes though.
