For some reason I was compelled to go to the Dock Dogs event in Dundee Michigan this past weekend, though common sense would dictate that I stay home. After all, there are some big trips coming up very soon.
Well I went and I’m damn glad I did!
Pico took her game to a whole nother level! She upped her average big time. In one of the early waves on the first day she got a 27′01″ jump, and I was very pleasantly surprised, because I thought the 27 foot jump she did at World Championships was a once in a lifetime thing. I should’ve asked Pico about that though!
That same day, Pico did even better! 27′8″!!! The next day, better still!! 27′10″! WHOA!! I walked around in a state of disbelief the rest of the time there. Actually, I’m still in a state of disbelief!
When all was said and done, Pico went home with a whole new set of scores to up her average - 27′10, 27′8, 27′01, 27, and 26′11. Her worst jumps this weekend were in the high 24’s and the rest were all in the 25-27 foot range. She jumped in all nine waves and still managed a 26′9″ in final four. GOOD LITTLE GIRL!!!!
This was such a great event for so many other reasons. Great people, great weather, great site and great barbeque after the waves on Saturday.
There is video of three jumps from this event on the video section of this site.
Next on Pico’s agenda is KiKi Classic, with an agility trial sandwiched in between. Then, Hamburg PA, a special surprise, and then a couple of weeks off before Nelsonville and Nationals. AND THEN, finally, the end to the dock dogs season and we can turn our full focus to agility.
