Pico, Granite and I leave for Dock Dogs World Championships on Wednesday at the crack of dawn.

I’m very excited, because we had such an incredible time last year. Unfortunately, I have heard that the conditions will be the same as last year, 100 degrees!! YUCK! I hope that’s not going to be the case.

This year we’ve been lucky enough to have a regulation pool and dock to practice on, thanks to the people at Ledgewood Kennel, and it’s made all the difference in getting more distance from Pico AND getting lots of consistency from her.  In the past I’d always have to hope I’d get the timing right for my throws at the actual event, which didnt always happen. We’ve had so much practice with it now, that we seem to really be clicking. I hope I didnt just jinx myself!

We’ve also been able to do a lot of swimming to condition Pico and she’s really looking great. Stamina is her strong suit and we can leave the pool after hours of swimming, playing and jumping and she’s STILL leaping around like a lunatic with plenty of energy.
