Pico and I leave tomorrow morning to drive 23 hours to Wichita Kansas, to compete in the Central Regional of the Incredible Dog Challenge.

Pico is coming into this event a little light on training and conditioning, as the recent flooding in my area (and in my house) has put dog activities on the back burner for a while!

We did get an opportunity to practice at a pool yesterday and I got some great advice on my throws, particularly the height, timing and positioning that would best help Pico, from Diane Bauman, who gives lessons in agility, obedience and herding but who has an excellent eye and a perfect swimming pool! I considered it time well spent and go into the event with a bit more optimism than I had previously!

It will be great to see some Dock Dogs friends we havent seen in a while, and I am really looking forward to seeing Gator, Pico’s “brother-in-law” at this competition as well! I’ve met him but not seen him compete so this will be a highlight of the trip.
