This is going to be a very big weekend of dock jumping for Pico and family
Littermate Emmy is competing at a Dock Dogs event in Long Beach CA Wednesday and Thursday and then heads down to Arizona to compete at the Western Regionals of the Incredible Dog Challenge! She is facing some very very tough competition but she’s more than capable of winning it all. Good luck Emmy and Kim!!
Gator (Pico’s “brother-in-law”) is headed to a Splashdogs event in Columbus Ohio to compete and to get in some practice for his IDC in Kansas in May. I wish I were going to that one, I’ve never seen Gator jump and there is a lot of other stuff going on, like llama drill team and dog and monkey barrel racing, plus pig agility! However, Pico will be competing at Pawsabilities. It’s three hours away so it would make no sense to drive 10 hours to Columbus when I can compete locally. Hopefully there will be other opportunities to see Gator before Wichita.
I have no idea what to expect from Picoroni. She’s in as good a shape as I can get her in with snow and ice on the ground and we’ve been working her sit stay. I have some things to play around with on her throws so… We’ll see! She won this event last year and it’s also part of a fun event, so there should be lots of other stuff to see (and buy!).
At this point I’ve decided that Pico will NOT go in the water unless she has a solid stay. Better to straighten this out now, at a local event, than to drive 12 hours and have poor jumps because she wont stay put! If it means Pico stays dry all weekend, so be it! Lets hope I can stick to that vow!
I’m hoping for good luck and huge jumps for all of us this weekend!
