No, not Pico’s agility debut, though I was pretty happy with that.

No, the good news is that Gator, the working terv who was bred to Pico’s sister Raika and who is owned by Brydon Christenson in KY, is going to Wichita too!! Brydon and Gator won the Purina round at the Dockside Promotions event in Indianapolis today! It is only Gator’s third event and his first time jumping indoors, but he had no problem at all, winning the trip in the final jump of the competition with a 23′7″ leap!

I am suddenly MUCH more excited about the trip to Wichita, knowing that Gator and Brydon will be there. It will be so great to have two working line tervuren at the IDC in Wichita and three at IDC this year, as Pico’s sister Emmy is competing at the IDC in Chandler AZ in March. With some  luck there could be three tervs diving in St. Louis in finals this fall!

As for Pico’s agility debut, it was good. I was pleased with her responsiveness and felt that I was well prepared for the courses. My only concern was the usdaa a-frame, as Pico has never been over one that height, but she’s so athletic she flew over it without even noticing the difference. The trial exposed some things we need to work on, but Pico is clearly ready. I was especially pleased with how she kept her head in all the excitement. Her eyes were whirling in her head waiting her turn, but in the ring she was responsive and fast.
