Goals for 2007

2007 is shaping up to be a very busy year for little Pico. I’ve listed our goals and hope to meet every one of them.

Dock Dogs has announced some sort of points system, and the dog and handler team that accumulate the most points between now and National Championships will win some incredible prizes. Needless to say, Pico and I will be on the hunt for points this year.

We’d also like to attend a Super Retriever Series event, most likely the one in North Carolina in March. The top three placements in Super Fly and Super V go on to the Crown Classic in Hot Springs Arkansas in June. It might be fun to go to that, so we might just give it a shot.

Otherwise, here is a list of what we’d like to do in 2007 -

Compete successfully in Extreme Vertical, and hopefully earn an EV spot at World Championships. Pico is already qualified in Big Air.

Get Pico’s Super Elite title. 5 jumps of over 25 feet are needed, but the 7 Pico earned in 2006 will not count. We start fresh at our next event.

We’d like to maintain a very high ranking. Top five would be nice! Top female would be better!

Begin her agility career. She’s just about ready! We’d like to compete at USDAA Nationals, which will be held in Scottsdale Arizona again in 2007. It’s well worth the four day drive! So, somehow we are going to have to fit agility trialing in. There wont be many free weekends for agility trials, so we will concentrate exclusively on USDAA.

I’m uncertain about tracking. She will get a TDX at some point, but I’m not sure if it will be this year. I’d prefer to spend my time on Pico’s physical conditioning and her agility training. We’ll see how things go, but at this point tracking is probably on the back burner.

I think no matter what, 2007 is going to be an extremely fun year, thanks to my wonderful Picoroni and her equally wonderful big brother Granite and little sister Lily.
