Pico was on tv this week. CBS came to film at the KiKi Classic a couple of weeks ago and the results were finally aired this past Tuesday. Pico is on after the rottweiler. Here’s the Link to the video
Pico and I will also be going to the Dock Dogs event in Syracuse this weekend, mostly to practice my throws for nationals. Pico is very very sharp right now, lots of intensity and energy, and I’m hoping I can hold up my end of the team and give her the throws she needs. We’ll see!

For the Dock Dogs “Most Improved Dog” category of the people’s choice awards!
And a case could certainly be made for little Pico in this category, she went from jumping 11 feet or so at the junior level to her elite title and personal bests of 25′2″ in 8 months.
Now, I have also been nominated for “Most Improved Handler” and I suspect that whoever nominated me for this category has not seen my recent throws!! I’m just thankful that Pico cannot read, as she would be in hysterics laughing at the thought that my throws and handling have improved. As far as Pico is concerned, she is carrying the team and I am merely her personal servant and driver, and a somewhat bumbling one at that.

The KiKi Classic is in the history books. It was a treat to have an event less than an hour from my house, after so many 15 and 20 hour trips.
The event was fun, and in a beautiful area of New York State. My throws are still a work in progress and Pico’s jumping reflected that. When I got that toy up there with perfect timing she responded with good jumps. On her best she was actually shimmying in the air like a fish to try and catch the toy!
CBS was there to film and they told me they got footage of ”your beautiful dog” so we are hopeful that we will be on tv and not the cutting room floor. I’m told that it will likely air on September 20th on the CBS Good Morning Show.
Both Pico and her big “brother” Granite made their finals and they each came home with a gift bag full of Wubba toys, Greenies products and a bunch of other stuff! We love gift bags!
I am toying with the idea of going to Syracuse, otherwise our next event will be Hamburg the first week of October. In the meantime, Pico is very busy with her agility classes and lessons and will soon resume tracking training, both for conditioning (she pulls like a sled dog) and eventually the TDX.
