Pico and I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Dock Dogs World Championships! In fact we had such a great time that I’m going to make getting into this event next year a top priority. I guess we’ll get around to agility sooner or later!!

The enthusiastic crowds made this event extra special. I was told to expect people to ask for our autograph but I didnt believe it! Well, it was definitely true. I cant count all the hats, balls, t-shirts and wood slices and scraps I signed!! Pico even gave “pawtographs” with her inked paw on t-shirts and got her picture taken with several different children.

The dock was not one we were used to and took some time to acclimate to. But Pico gave me her very best efforts and we got into semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday Pico had her best jump of the competition, despite my terrible throws. It was not quite enough to get her into final four but I was very very proud of my little girl who jumped her heart out for me!

The heat was UNREAL!! Pico had never experienced anything like it and I was worried about how she’d handle it. She is very intense and will work herself into a frenzy watching other dogs jump. I was afraid she’d have heat stroke just waiting around, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well she did. I attribute that to her excellent diet and CPN’s products, which really seem to have made a difference with her this year, particularly in her stamina. Pico ended the competition with as much energy as she began it!

I thought I’d be exhausted from the trip, but after being home a few hours I found myself thinking about our next competition. I am chomping at the bit for it! That will be in Frederick MD in two weeks!
