We found out today that Pico has been invited to compete at the Dock Dogs World Championships to be held in Hayward Wisconsin at the end of July!!

We’ve been trying to get into this event since it was announced a few months ago and have been competing with the goal of upping our average to insure that invitation so we are extremely excited about this!

So, Pico will continue her swimming and biking to get in top shape for the competition and I will try not to think too hard about the 20 hour drive ahead of us! I’ve barely recovered from the drive home from Mishicot. I’m getting too old to drive 15 hours per day.

Pico likes ponds! We had a great weekend with Pico picking up a number of high 24′ jumps and repeating her personal best of 25′2″ on Sunday in the last wave before finals. In the finals, the top three finishers were Pico, Lily, and Rocky. Both Lily and Rocky had elite level personal bests this weekend, so I think the pond setup agreed with just about everyone.

I have video of Pico’s 24′10″ jump from Saturday but Pico also gave me a heartstopping moment on Sunday when her right foot slipped off the dock on launch. She did a full gainer with a 1/4 twist, going into the water facing the dock and nearly on her left side!

Pico was perfectly fine afterwords, thank goodness! She did get a visit with chiropractor Emily Elliot VMD at Chippens Hill Veterinary Hospital to make sure of that when we got home.
